It was summer not too many years ago when I met her
Cursing the sun and waiting for the snow
The bus arrived long before winter: I followed her on
I pretended we were going in the same direction

A boy sat down next to me I snapped out of my world
I noticed his hair around his finger curl
I can’t remember who spoke first but he made me forget the sun
We drove on together, north, to the next season

Autumn leaves he kicked around his feet
She cursed when he dragged them in
The years went by the time they tried to deny
But they fell down, down, down, no matter how they tried

To be sent to be re-born again
